Dr. Billy Khan

Billy is the director of Live Well Chiropractic and the founder of a number of other health and wellness organisations in Australia, including Live Well Chiropractic, True Posture and Your Local Chiro. He completed his undergraduate as a combined degree of Chiropractic and Science at Macquarie University and also completed a Masters degree at the same institute in Chiropractic. In the past Billy has worked with a number of premier league soccer teams and currently conducts Occupational Health and Safety training programs for organisations and companies in and around Sydney.

“Over the years I have experienced a great deal in practice. Everything from being fortunate enough to allow people to avoid surgical procedures in their spine by delivering conservative treatment and seeing vast improvements in self-esteem from a simple postural correction. I must say though, the most rewarding aspect of my job is after all the correction has been done… seeing patients fit and healthy, coming in for their regular adjustments to prevent postural stress and injury from everyday tasks really shows me that the message has been delivered! Health and wellness isn’t about fixing something when it’s broken, but rather maintaining consistent health, as prevention is better than a cure.”

Dr. Mike Kang

mike-kang2Dr. Mike Kang is a Chiropractor who specialises in correcting long-term structural misalignments of the spine. Known for his very ‘hands-on’ and practical approach to patient care, he has helped a broad range of people from mothers to top performance athletes.

Dr. Mike believes that accurate analysis and precise treatment is the key to successful outcomes for his patients. This belief has seen him work with many highly respected Chiropractors who bring the highest quality spinal care to their local communities.

Originally from South Korea and having grown up in Sydney, Dr. Mike’s Chiropractic journey began as a teenager suffering from chronic low back pain and stiffness which lasted for 10 years into his 20’s. He found himself unable to stand up longer than 20 minutes at a time due to the pain – and year by year he felt that the low back muscles got weaker. Sports became difficult, work became a chore and the only relief came from lying in bed.

He went on a mission find the solution to the problem, seeing many GPs, physiotherapists, massage therapists and osteopaths – which yielded temporary results. He found that even daily muscle stretching and exercise routines gave only short lived relief and quite often worsened the low back pain afterwards.

It wasn’t until he went under the care of the most sought after Chiropractor in his local area that things improved dramatically – in just a handful of visits, the pain had disappeared, the flexibility of the lower spine returned and the muscles felt strong again. He was finally able to stand and be active as he was 10 years before.

The Chiropractor explained that a bone had misaligned due to prolonged sitting in front of a computer. This had changed the natural curvature of the spine, causing spasms of the muscles and ultimately pain. The Chiropractor had corrected the problem by re-aligning the spinal curvature to its optimum state.

Amazed by the result, he began to work for the Chiropractor as his apprentice whilst studying Chiropractic at Macquarie University. Under the Chiropractor’s tough tutelage, he was rigorously trained to create rapid results for a wide variety of patients by being extremely ‘hands-on’ – talk was cheap and Chiropractic means ‘done by hand’.
He is an avid lover of the arts and combat sports.

He utilises a broad range of techniques that are gentle to firm, including manual joint adjusting, muscle release, posture correction and rehabilitation exercises. His main interests also include treating headaches, limb pain and disc herniations.

Dr. Peter Proud

proud2My first experience of Chiropractic was when I was 14 years of age as a patient. I was suffering with terrible lower back pain after playing golf. My pack pain was really affecting my ability to play golf and my life in general. The pain in my lower back was so intense I couldn’t stand up straight, it hurt to breath. I was afraid that things were going to keep getting worse. I tried everything; well I thought I had tried everything. My mum convinced me to see a chiropractor as her friend went there and was getting good results. As a teenager I was a bit sceptical. This chiropractor did a thorough examination and took some x-rays. He explained that my spine was out of place and it was irritating the nerves in my lower back and other areas in my spine. That was the problem. It was explained in a way that just made so much sense. Then he ‘adjusted’ my spine. The adjustments didn’t hurt, they actually felt great. I got relief, I could stand up straight, breathe, walk and play golf again. It worked so well for me. I was so impressed with chiropractic and its approach to health I decided to become a Chiropractor.

So I guess that was the beginning of my own journey and a quest to learn and grow within a healing profession that I feel very proud to be a part of. Chiropractic has the ability to change people’s lives, just as it did mine. I have a Bachelor Degree in Medical Science from Sydney University, and gained a Masters of Chiropractic in the year 2000. I am internationally recognised and since graduating I have completed extensive studies in America, Europe, and Australia.

In addition to this I have undergone extensive study and training studying the Science of Human Wellness and have been formally trained in Chiropractic Biophysics or Clinical Biomechanics of Posture ®. CBP is the most researched and scientific chiropractic technique, emphasising optimal posture and spinal alignment and is ‘The Science of Spinal Health. Gaining my Distinguished Fellow of Chiropractic Biophysics in 2005 was an exciting moment for me as helping people regain their normal healthy spinal curves and seeing the lasting change to patient’s is what gives me the most satisfaction as a Chiropractor.

When I’m not in practice I love exercising and I enjoy relaxing in our garden at home. I love spending time with my family, watching them grow and develop their personalities and talents. I think my proudest moment was witnessing the birth of my 2 beautiful children and having the privilege of delivering both of them into the world. This is a moment I am forever grateful.

I am now in my 15th year in practice and I can honestly say that I am just as excited about being a Chiropractor as when I first graduated. “Teaching and sharing the principles of Chiropractic with my patients is something that I am very passionate about. This is one of the many reasons why I love being a Family Chiropractor.
